As of December 14, 2008, neither Josh nor I are affiliated with Palm, Inc.; therefore, neither of us will be monitoring this board or handling support at the support@chatteremail.com address. What's more, we are not privy to any plans that Palm might have for supporting new and existing customers.

UH.... This changes everything for me. I have been patiently waiting for the next generation Palm phone and a big reason why is because I knew Marc was working on the mail app. I remember about this time last year being disappointed because Palm had to delay their phone almost a full year (it turns out they even underestimated *that*), but I was willing to wait it out. So, Palm has again slipped their schedule of a new platform that supposedly will have a web-based bent (a personal dislike of mine), and now I hear this. That Blackberry is starting to look real good.
Marc and Josh, give us a hint what platform you are going to be putting your efforts in next!
RIP Palm

I'm taking a look at Android at the moment. The G1 is pretty lame (as is most of the software), but better devices will come along. And the software on the G1 sets a pretty low bar...

Hopefully, Apple will let devs take a shot at making a better iPhone/iPod touch mail client... |

Oh noooooooo...2 years of waiting down the drain. I have stuck with my Treo 650 solely because of Chatter. I know Palm is cutting costs, but this is very shortsighted.
Marc, lead and I will follow. Please let your loyal fans know if there is a way to keep track of your next moves (Twitter?). |

As a loyal Palm user from palm pilots, visors, treo 600, 650, 700, and 755p I supported Palm for a long time. However, this past year, I jumped ship to an iPhone and love it. I got sick and tired of waiting for Palm and see the executive mgmt make stupid decisions. I.e. sell Palm OS, buy Palm OS, try to develop a new OS and kill it, FOOLeo, and now trying to develop Palm OS 2. It was somewhat encouraging seeing some Apple devs and Marc go to Palm. I had to think that Palm was going to do something good. However, with Marc gone, it's just another example that Palm doesn't get it!
Marc could make chatteremail do stuff that NO palm developer could do and with Palm's crappy OS.
Good luck Marc on your future endeavors. You provided excellent support when I used chatteremail. |

The only reason I have hung on to my 680 is Chatter. The only reason I have stuck with Palm is because I was anticipating Chatter on Nova. I've tried out iphone, blackberry, winmo, Nokia mail - they're all just so far behind Chatter it's not funny.
Chatter for Android ? Can I send you a cheque now ?
Best of luck

Sean, my son, will be getting (and likely hacking) a G1 for Christmas. If you are looking for the son of a beta tester... let me know |

Marc--
Good luck in your new endeavors! Your product has been a game changing, killer app for the Palm OS, and I am sad to see you are leaving the company. Is there anything you can/want to say about why you chose to leave without divulging private or NDA type information? I guess the reason for my question is that most of us Palm enthusiasts have been anticipating Nova for several years, and this kind of development has shaken our confidence. I want to believe that Palm can put out the amazing device/OS combo that they have been promising, but it is hard to imagine why a talent as great as yourself decides to leave at the 11th hour. If you can't, I totally understand, and still wish you good luck! |

Hi, all, and thanks for the kind words.
The reason I resigned: My responsibilities had changed enough at Palm that I was no longer enjoying my work, or contributing in a way that I found satisfying. Please note that this should NOT be interpreted as any kind of judgment about Palm, its products (present or future), or the people there; this was very much a personal decision, and I wish Palm well.

Marc,
Thanks again for creating the best email client I've ever seen for a mobile device. I still rely on it extensively every day.
Best of luck in your new endeavor. I'm sure it will be successful.
I will now wait for the Palm announcement at CES and word from you on your next move and then decide what my next smart phone will be. |

All the best in the future Marc. Thanks for the great app and years of great support.
Looks like 2008 is the year of the decision. |
